What does a general pest treatment cover?

A general pest treatment with demo pest control covers common household pests including cockroaches, ants, spiders, silverfish, and fleas. Our technician treats both the interior and exterior of the property, including wall junctions, skirting boards, roof voids where accessible, subfloor areas, and the external perimeter. The specific products and application method will depend on your property type and the pests present. After the treatment, we'll walk you through what was done and what normal post-treatment activity looks like.

How do I know if I have termites?

Common signs of termite activity include hollow-sounding timber when tapped, blistering or bubbling paint on walls, small mud tubes running along foundations or wall surfaces, and piles of what looks like fine sawdust near timber structures. In many cases, termite damage is not visible to the untrained eye until it is quite advanced, which is why a professional inspection is the most reliable way to identify activity early. If you've noticed any of these signs — or if it has been more than 12 months since your last inspection — we recommend booking an inspection sooner rather than later. Early detection makes a significant difference to the cost and complexity of management.

Is the treatment safe for children and pets?

The products we use are registered for residential use in Australia and are applied in a targeted manner to minimise unnecessary exposure. We will always advise you of any re-entry periods specific to the treatment carried out — these are typically short and vary depending on the products used and the areas treated. Our technicians work carefully around children's play areas, pet bedding, and food preparation surfaces, and will give you clear instructions on what to do during and immediately after the treatment. If you have specific concerns about any household members, including young children or animals with health conditions, let us know at the time of booking.

How long does a pest treatment take?

The duration depends on the size of the property, the type of treatment, and the extent of the pest issue. A standard general pest treatment for a three to four-bedroom home typically takes between one and two hours to complete thoroughly. A termite inspection can take between one and two hours depending on property size and accessibility of roof voids and subfloor areas. Our technicians do not rush the job — thorough coverage is more important to us than a quick turnaround.

Do I need to leave the house during treatment?

For most general pest treatments, we recommend that occupants — particularly young children and pets — vacate the property during the treatment and for the re-entry period specified by the technician. This is generally a short window and we'll confirm the exact timing when we discuss the treatment plan with you. For external-only treatments, it is usually not necessary to vacate at all. Our technician will give you clear, specific guidance based on the treatment being carried out at your property.

How often should I have my property inspected for termites?

The Australian Standard for timber pest inspections (AS 3660) recommends that properties be inspected at least once every 12 months. In areas with higher termite pressure — including coastal and bushland-adjacent properties across Newcastle and the Hunter region — more frequent inspections may be warranted. Properties with previous termite history, high-risk construction types such as older timber homes, or those in close proximity to known termite activity should be assessed more regularly. Your technician can advise on an appropriate inspection interval based on your specific property and location.

What is included in the free inspection?

Our free on-site inspection involves a visit from one of our technicians who will assess the property for signs of pest activity, entry points, and conditions that may be contributing to or attracting pest issues. At the end of the inspection, you will receive a written quote outlining the recommended treatment with no obligation to proceed. The inspection is provided at no cost and is an opportunity for you to ask questions and understand the full picture before making any decisions. There are no hidden charges associated with the inspection itself.
